Jason MacKay’s veteran runner Snozz finally claimed his maiden Group race win on Saturday night when the September 2006 whelp snared victory in the $35,000-to-the-winner Group 2 Multicam Routing Systems Black Top (515m) at The Gardens.

In a race marred by the fall of three dogs, Snozz ($2.80) held on and avoided trouble to finish one and three quarter lengths ahead of a strong finishing Flash Of Light ($7.40) with Daydream ($8) in third.

The only other two runners to finish the 2010 Black Top were Nicholas’s Habit ($44) and Tuiaki ($7.30) as New Divide and Elite Blue Size fell while Bit Stressed also failed to finish after being injured.

After jumping from box eight, Snozz crossed the field to the rails as they approached the first turn and in doing so checked New Divide, causing the Kenneth Cheetham-trained son of Big Daddy Cool to race and wide and in turn severely check Reg Kay’s Elite Blue Size and Brett May’s Bit Stressed.

The clash also caused Tuiaki some trouble, but they managed to finish whereas New Divide, Elite Blue Size and Bit Stressed all fell at the first turn.

In our Black Top preview we had tipped Snozz to win and Daydream to place and were right on both counts

While New Divide and Elite Blue Size avoided injury in the incident, the news wasn’t as good for Bit Stressed who fractured their near side wrist and have been ruled out of racing for the next month.

Avoiding the collision, Snozz (Bombastic Shiraz x Special Osti) booted away along the rails and had too much speed for his remaining rivals as the old dog continued to lead all the way to victory, his 25th win from 69 career starts.

The Black Top results would have paid well for any punter’s that followed our Race Preview & Tips as we had picked Snozz to win and Daydream down as the best dog to Place at SportsBet.

This Saturday night the next big greyhound final will take place when The Gardens host the $35,000-to-the-winner Group 2 Multicam Routing Systems Black Top (515m).

Heats for the Black Top were held last week with the top two dogs from each qualifier progressing onto this week’s final showdown.

Drawn well in box eight Snozz will be hard to beat so check out their odds at SportsBet

The fastest qualifier from last week was Jason MacKay’s speedy son of Bombastic Shiraz, Snozz, the veteran dog in red hot form of late winning three of their past four starts.

Snozz ran a scintillating 29.51 in the heats beating home race favourite Daydream by over three lengths after jumping from box eight and will be wearing the pink rug again on Saturday night.

Appearing in his 11th Group race final, Snozz is yet to win at this level having placed five times and finished fourth on three and is sure to be the sentimental favourite.

Another heat winner from last week who also boasts the fastest personal best here is the Reg Kay-trained Elite Blue Size.

Daydream in box two looks ideal for a Place bet at SportsBet having finished second to Snozz in the heats

The brilliant blue dog recently failed to place at Dapto but was back to their best in the Black Top qualifiers. Elite Blue Size, however, has some work to do in the final after drawing awkwardly with box six.

The other two dogs finishing first in their qualifiers were Bit Stressed who beat home Tuiaki in a race where hot favourite Mr. Metz was knocked out, and New Divide who held on to defeat the race favourite Flash Of Light.

Trained by Brett May, Bit Stressed will jump from box seven on Saturday night and despite having won their past three starts at The Gardens looks a bit outclassed here, while New Divide has drawn box four and has won four from their past four here.

Brett May also has his smart bitch and National Futurity champion Daydream lining up in the Black Top final from box two who looks ideal for a Place bet at SportsBet.

Runner-up to New Divide in the heats, Flash Of Light, stands a strong chance in the Black Top final after drawing ideally on the rails and is best for an Each Way bet at SportsBet.

The 2010 Muticam Systems Black Top Final is programmed as race six on The Garden’s mega 11-event card for Saturday night and is due to jump at 7:08pm.

In an entertaining showdown at Wentworth Park on Saturday night, the Robert Arnold-trained Did I Entertain claimed a classy win ahead of a top-class field in the $25,000-to-the-winner Group 2 Bob Payne Winter Stakes (520m).

Veteran runner Did I Entertain ($6) again showed his love of the Wentworth Park track securing his fourth consecutive win there, this time in a speedy 30.13. He burst out of box four and held on to defeat Tuiaki ($5.40) by three quarters of a length, with New Divide ($11.20) a fast finishing third just a further head away.

Quick beginner New Divide jumped beautifully but was soon challenged for the lead as Did I Entertain and Daydream moved up on either side, fighting for the front at the first turn.

Coming around the initial bend, Did I Entertain took the lead and raced strongly on the inside rail maintaining his position in the front around the home corner and held on to win again, taking home the money.

Runner-up Tuiaki had sat just off the pace the whole race, but pulled out an impressive late burst to again finish second to Did I Entertain after being beaten by a nose by him in the heats.

The warm prerace favourite, National Futurity winner Daydream ($3.10) finished over fourth lengths away from the winner in fourth after failing to make up the ground she lost from her average start from box eight.

Did I Entertain, a red brindle son of Bombastic Shiraz, has now won 23 of his 62 career starts for over $150,000 in prizemoney.

The other feature greyhound race decided over the weekend was the Group 2 Schweppes WA Oaks at Cannington where Rock Pool claimed victory.

IASbet had all the best odds for these great greyhound races and is the place to go for any upcoming dog races you fancy a punt on!

This Saturday Wentworth Park will come alive as eight of the nation’s best sprinters take to the track for the coveted $25,000-to-the-winner final of the Group 2 AAA Radiator Specialists Bob Payne Winter Stakes (520m).

Sure to start as one of the warm favourites is the Brett May-trained National Futurity winner Daydream, who qualified quickest in last week’s heats in a speedy 30.01s. The smart brindle bitch from Bit Chili x Stresa is drawn out wide in box eight for the final and looks the dog to beat having won two of her six starts wearing the pink rug and six of her eight starts at the track.

Daydream claimed an emphatic six and a half length win in the heats ahead of dual Group 2 winner Magnifique. But the Julie Fletcher-trained Magnifique should not be forgotten in the final, the quality son of Brett Lee having drawn ideally on the rails. Magnifique has won all four of his race starts wearing the red rug and will be hard to catch if they get away well on Saturday.

The other heat winners from last week were surprise roughie Lovin’ Spoonful who held off the hot favourite New Divide, Did I Entertain, and Smooth Fancy.

Robert Arnold’s super consistent Did I Entertain is coming off three successive victories at this track and distance, however the son of Bombastic Shiraz has drawn awkwardly in box four and looks best for a Place bet.

Although they didn’t run the quickest in the qualifiers, the fourth heat winner Smooth Fancy boasts the fastest personal best here, a smart 29.75. The Anthony Azzopardi-trained black son of Collison has drawn well in box three and looks a top chance.

In the heats a number of the pronounced favourites were quickly knocked out of the series including Hurricane Luke and Fedex, while Elite Blue Size (first reserve) and Take The Kitty (second reserve) will only gain a start through the scratching of another dog.

The 2010 Bob Payne Winter Stakes Final is scheduled as the eighth race at Wentworth Park’s bumper 10-event card on Saturday night, and is due to jump at 9:57pm.

It is a bumper weekend of greyhound racing, with another great group final decided in WA. Cannington are set to host the $35,000-to-the-winner Group 2 Schweppes WA Oaks (530m) featuring eight classy bitches including the speedy Rock Pool and the Andrea Dailly-trained Cara Bale.

Check out the odds for both these quality races at IASbet today to get in on the action of dog racing today!

The champion Kel Greenough-trained Cindeen Shelby started the Bracelet as the hot $1.40 favourite and lived up to all expectations, blazing to an emphatic 9 ½ length victory.

Long priced outsider Ashby Devil ($19.80) finished a mere nose in front of National Futurity winner Daydream ($6.20) in a photo-finish for second and third.

Cindeen Shelby began beautifully from box one and was barely challenged in her lead-all-the-way win.

Runner-up Ashby Devil missed the start and was slow to jump from box two, giving Cindeen Shelby an early advantage that saw her leading by five lengths before even half of the race had been run.

Third placegetter Daydream did well to get up on the outside from box one and take her position near the top of the field by the first turn.

Cindeen Shelby was in a race of her own by the end of the Bracelet

But none were as impressive as Cindeen Shelby who sprinted home down the straight widening her lead with each stride. She was in a race of her own by the end showing once again her flying speed and skill.

The winning red fawn bitch ran a sharp 29.85 over the 520m in the seven-dog race after the late scratching of Navada Sunrise.

Cindeen Shelby (Bombastic Shiraz x Proper Shelby) has now won 31 of her 53 career starts, including her last four in succession, and Saturday’s win was her seventh Group win from 12 attempts. She now boasts over $440,000 in career prizemoney.

This Saturday Wentworth Park will be home to a terrific night of racing, headlined by the $25,000 Group 2 Evans & Son Jeweller Ladies Bracelet Final (520m).

The 2010 Ladies Bracelet Final features a star studded field of elite sprinters including the reigning AGRA Australian Greyhound of the year Cindeen Shelby.

Trained by Kel Greenough, the daughter of Bombastic Shiraz is one of Australia’s most loved and respected racing bitches and has been in sizzling hot form of late winning her last four from five including her emphatic Bracelet heat win last Saturday.

In the qualifier, Victorian Cindeen Shelby blew away her competition winning by an incredible 15 ¾ lengths ahead of Navada Sunrise after a horror finish.

Coming into the straight National Penny disorganised the field when she made a mess of the turn and on the finish both Spanky and National Penny fell after colliding, Spanky badly injured in the fall.

Despite the carnage Cindeen Shelby lead beautifully all the way after jumping from box one, and she will again be wearing the red rug when she runs in the final.

The fastest heat winner from last week was Flash Of Light who coasted to a 9 ½ length win ahead of roughie La Voca.

The Mark Delbridge-trained black bitch won in a personal best time at the track and distance of 29.90 and has drawn box three on Saturday.

2009 Golden Easter Egg winner Dana Beatrice, however, boasts the fastest time here. The Rodney McDonald-trained champion ran a slick 29.70 back in April last year and had her latest win at Wentworth ahead of Arsonist on March 20.

The daughter of Collision has drawn box seven for Saturday night, a box she has one four from seven starts in.

In the heats Dana Beatrice was beaten by over five lengths by the Brett May-trained Daydream, who impressed many winning in the qualifier first-up after a two month spell. The lightly-raced youngster has had a brilliant start to her career already having won 11 of just 18 starts including her victory in the Group 1 National Futurity.

Drawn on the outside in box eight for the final, the brindle bitch by Bit Chili out of Stresa is aiming for her fifth consecutive win.

The 2010 Evans & Son Jeweller Ladies Bracelet is scheduled as race eight on the night’s cracker ten-event card and is due to jump at 9:57pm (NSW time).
