2014 Golden Easter Egg Final Field Confirmed

An exciting field of eight greyhounds and two reserves have been confirmed to line up for the grand final of the 2014 Golden Easter Egg at Wentworth Park this weekend.

Tasmanian-trained runner Buckle Up Wes is on the verge of claiming a maiden Golden Easter Egg title for his home state, having drawn the ideal rails box for this weekend’s feature event.

Boxed by leading Tasmanian trainer Ted Medhurst, Buckle Up Wes won the 2014 Australian Cup on March 1st and is red-hot favourite to claim another major title this weekend.

“Box one is where you want to be in a race like this” Medhurst said following the 2014 Golden Easter Egg Box draw.

“I had a bitch named Maui which made a Golden Easter Egg final when trained in Sydney by Don McMillan on my behalf, but she was a rank outsider who realistically had no hope.

“It’s a bit different with Buckle Up Wes.”

Allocated the central box 5 for the 2014 Golden Easter Egg, trainer Evelyn Harris is confident pace setter and up-and-coming star Magic Display can make the most of her position.

“Magic Display won her Easter Egg heat and semi-final from box three, so I wanted that draw again” Harris said following the draw.

“Good beginners can miss the kick from box one at Wenty, so I definitely did not want the rails draw with her.”

Arguably the most affected by the 2014 Golden Easter Egg final box draw, rails runner Evil Punk will have to overcome the reasonably wide box 6 if to win this weekend’s feature and underline his tag as fastest qualifier.

Tonk (box 2), Ollie Bale (box 3), Warrior King (box 4), Jordan Allen (box 7) and Hawk Alone (box 8) make up the final field for the 2014 Golden Easter Egg Final, while Ritza Hattie (box 9) and Hurricane Rino (box 10) have been confirmed as the race’s two reserve runners.
