Three stars compete for 2011 Queensland Greyhound Of The Year award

Champion greyhound Dashing Corsair looks odds-on to take out the 2011 Queensland Greyhound of the Year award after three finalists were announced this afternoon.

The three greyhounds Bogie King, Dashing Corsair and He Knows Uno are all worthy of nomination after memorable efforts in 2011.

While Bogie King and He Knows Uno race on, Dashing Corsair retired to stud after winning he 2011 National Distance Championship at Albion Park in August.

Bogie King is a dual Derby winner.

He won the Group 1 National Derby and the Group 2 Queensland Derby – he also placed in the Group 1 Topgun.

Dashing Corsair won the Group 1 National Distance Championship.

He became the first greyhound to win both the National Sprint and Distance titles, having won the sprint the previous year.

He also won the Group 3 Big Dog Cup and Group 3 Superstayers, and was placed in the Group 1 Association Cup and the Group 2 Wentworth Park Gold Cup in 2011.

He Knows Uno won the Group 3 Flying Amy Classic and Group 3 Rover Mowers Cup and was placed in the Group 1 Golden Easter Egg, the Group 2 Bulli Gold Cup and the Group 1 Winter Cup.

The winner will be announced at the Racing Queensland Limited’s Greyhound Awards night to be held at the Sofitel Brisbane on Saturday February 18, 2012.

Both He Knows Uno and Bogie King can be seen competing in coming days.

He Knows Uno steps up to the 720m for the first time in the first heat of the Group 2 Globe Memorial (720m) at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

Bogie King will contest the Best 8 (520m) at Albion Park tomorrow night from box three.

Both Queenslanders will take beating.
