Group 1 action moves to Hobart for Thousand on Thursday

Big owner Paul Wheeler may have come up short in the 2011 Brisbane Cup but his trusty duo Radley Bale and Dyna Tron are in Tasmania in the heats of the Group1 $75,000 to-the-winner 2011 Hobart Thousand (461m.

Eight heats of the 2011 Hobart Thousand  will be conducted on Thursday with Wheeler well represented in six of them.

Dyna Tron (trained by Andrea Dailly) is drawn in box seven in heat four and Radley Bale (trained by Garame Bate) will exit from box three in the fifth heat.

Wheeler also has Allen Elroy (in heat 2, box 7) and Shereen Bale (heat 7, box 8), Allen Lawson (heat 4, box 5), David Bale (heat 6, box 1), Allen Hertz (heat 8, box 6), Dyna Bert (heat 8, box 2).

With eight winners going through to the final he won’t be able to have seven finalists as he did in the recent Melbourne Cup won by Dyna Tron.

This series should suit Dyna Tron who is coming back to 461m from the 520m of the Brisbane Cup .

He faded in the last 40 metres of the Brisbane Cup and will appreciate the shorter journey and one turn track much better.

Graeme Bate has a strong hand with most of the Wheeler dogs belonging to his yard with the exception of Dyna Bert and Dyna Tron being trained by Andrea Dailly.

While Queenslander Glen Gallon was able to keep the Brisbane Cup money home, Tassie will mainly depend on local star Damek (heat 1, box 4).

It started favourite in last year’s Thousand Final but finished at the tail of the field behind the victorious Octane Show.

Damek has 21 wins from 26 starts at Hobart with his overall record standing at 45 from 58.

And drawn in one of Thursday night’s ‘quieter’ heats, Damek is sure to start at a very short quote to earn another shot at Hobart Thousand glory.
