Poor draw Radley ready for 2011 Brisbane Cup

While the Graeme Bate-trained Radley Bale has drawn poorly in the Group 1 $75,000 first prize 2011 Brisbane Cup (520m) on Thursday night, there perhaps is one saving grace.

TABsportsbet have made Radley Bale an $8 chance after he drew box six in the Brisbane Cup of 2011.

The son of Big Daddy Cool is coming off a competitive heat win in 30.03 sec after leading all the way.

The quickest heat winner was Spring Gun in 29.98 sec with others running similar times to Radley Bale.

What may help Radley Bale is the dogs drawn to his immediate inside (Bekim Bale) and outside (He Knows Uno) are slow beginners.

Last week Radley Bale had room from box four and led.

When he can do that, he takes beating.

In recent times the 2011 Golden Easter Egg winner has been hit or miss at the start which is the chance any punter has to take.

However, the slow beginners will help his cause.

Bate is happy, with the dog that has won over $450,000, going into the Cup.

“He’s going as good as ever,” Bate said.

“There is no early speed around my dog, it should help” he said.

Tabsportsbet have the two Andrea Dailly-trained greyhounds Dyna Tron and Bekim Bale joint favourites for the Cup at $2.75.

Dyna Tron (box 1) was the quickest beginner last week and Dailly is hoping he same occurs on Thursday night (9.11pm- Brisbane Time).

The NSW galloper Spring Gun ($4) is equally as quick out on its day and has box two.

Bate is hoping Dyna Tron and Spring Gun worry each other out of the race.

“And I’m counting on those two in the one and two box mucking each other up,” he said.

Bate admitted Radley Bale may have got a bit stale racing around his home tracks recently and the trip to Albion Park did him the world of good.

“I’m confident he will improve greatly on last week’s run. I think the red (Dyna Tron)  is the one to beat,” Bate said.
