Vocal Enforcer 2011 Brisbane Cup outsider

Mandurah trainer Andrew McLaren believes outsider Vocal Enforcer deserves it chance in tonight’s Group 1 $107,500 2011 Brisbane Cup series at Albion Park.

McLaren rates the West Australian in the top five dogs in Perth and coming off a recent Group 2 win in the All Stars, he set his sights on the eastern states and eventually the 2011 Brisbane Cup.

‘’I thought, being a Group 2 race, that the dog would then be eligible for the Melbourne Cup heats but that wasn’t the case,’’ McLaren said.

‘’The 2011 Brisbane Cup followed so I thought, with a $75,000 first prize, that’s certainly worth a try.’’

The strong finisher has been given the visitors draw in the third heat in box six.

He is not a particularly quick early but has strong finish.

“In the All Stars he gave the leader four lengths start near the top of the straight and got up to win,’’

The son of Black Enforcer trailed at Albion Park in 30.30 on Friday.

“I was disappointed in the time initially but was later told that the track had been harrowed the day before,’’ McLaren said.

At the Friday race meeting Radical Dos in 30.39 ran the best of the day.

That dog is in the same heat and on a quicker track has recorded 30.13.

Both Vocal Enforcer and Radical Dos have tough competition with National Sprint Champion Metz Magic and Sydney galloper Spring Gun.

Spring Gun won the Vic Peters, is a winner of 16 of 23 starts and is very quick out of the boxes.

A further positive for the 2011 Brisbane Cup is he trialed at Albion Park on Sunday in 29.92.
