Ipswich Cup box draw

The Selena Zammit trained Sobbing Destiny has drawn box one for next week’s Group 3 $37,5000 Ipswich Gold Cup final (520m).

The quick beginner  will be jumping form the red in only the second time in what will be her 30 the start and there hasn’t been a better race to save the good alley for.

Tom Noble’s much improved galloper Magic Control has box eight after leading throughout last night eliminating Iso Octane in the process.

He ran a sparkling 30.40 sec and while his best has come from inside boxes as a rule, his recent form suggests the past record doesn’t count for a great deal.

Cold Fusion and He Knows Uno both qualified after coming off the pace early.

Cold Fusion actually began quite well and was second going out of the straight the first time.

He strolled in running the quickest of the night in 30.25.

He Knows Uno had todo it the hard way, from near the tai.

He had work to do in the final stages with Miss Milkshake leading and Bogie Beltah finishing strongly along the rail.

He Know’s Uno got up in the last stride and has drawn quite well in three for the final.

With two good beginners on his inner, he can get to the fence quicker than was the case in last night’s heats.

Matilda’s Charm and Alota The Best both led and won. Matilda’s Charm being particularly impressive and stopping he clock at 30.34.

She isn’t favoured  by the final box draw but is smart enough to overcame a poor alley.

Duffy (30.75) and Here’s To You (30.92) were strong but recorded slower times.
