Bekim Bale shortener for Melbourne Cup final

Bekim Bale continually gets support for the Group 1 $290,000 Group 1 Melbourne Cup (515m) final on November  17, prior to tonight’s heats.

The Andrea Dailly trained youngster has box eight in tonight’s fifth heat at Sandown Park and is all the rage.

Bekim Bale is the track record holder and the only dog to have ever broken 29 secs.

He recorded 28.96 on the 25th of September but there is  one chink in the armour is that he isn’t the quickest dog early – punters seemingly are dismissing that fact.

Yesterday Bekim Bale was $5.50 with TABsportsbet fixed odds to win the final but just an hour and a half away from the first heat, he is now a $4.20 shot.

Allen Harper, trained by three time Melbourne Cup winning trainer Graeme Bate, is drifting and is now a $9 second favourite.

While no one doubts his ability and good draw in heat four in box one, he has only raced once at Sandown Park.

Rewind is the third favourite for the final and has held steady at $10.

The Darren McDonald trained galloper is in heat hthree and has box seven.

Quick early he carries McDoanld’s hope of taking a fourth Melbourne Cup.

McDonald along with Bate has trained three Cup winners.
