Irish Derby Comes to the Dogs TV

Media Release: GRNSW

As part of the brand new greyhound content already showing on The Dogs TV, the dedicated portal is now screening the official highlight packages from the 2010 Ladbrokes Irish Derby.

In a groundbreaking arrangement between the Irish Greyhound Racing Board and Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW), the video packages have been fast-tracked to The Dogs TV and are the best way for Australian greyhound enthusiasts to witness the preliminary rounds of one of the world’s greatest greyhound racing series.

The Ladbrokes Irish Derby is considered the pinnacle of greyhound racing in the northern hemisphere, second only in terms of prizemoney to Sydney’s Macro Meats Golden Easter Egg which is now the richest greyhound race in the world.

The first three nights of heats were held in Dublin on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and the second round is scheduled for this Thursday and Saturday. The packages currently airing go through highlights from each of the nights and provide punters with the opportunity to see some of the main chances for the overall title.

The introduction of the Irish Derby series to The Dogs TV adds to the topical video content already present on the site including The Stir Up which has industry experts debating greyhound racing’s hottest topics and In the Spotlight which interviews greyhound personalities one on one.

GRNSW Chief Executive Brent Hogan said the introduction of the Irish Derby series on The Dogs TV provides greyhound enthusiasts with the chance to keep up with the sport abroad.

“This continues our commitment to provide a one-stop shop of video content on The Dogs TV and particularly when the action cannot be seen on any other medium in Australia,” Mr Hogan said.

“The response to the first week of The Dogs TV has been fantastic and we believe by adding top quality product from overseas as well as locally we can continue to see it grow into a valuable communication tool that can be viewed at a time that suits the viewer.”
