Rock Pool Wins 2010 WA Oaks Beating I’m Hot Property & Odessa Shiraz

On Saturday night, Rock Pool secured victory in the $35,000-to-the-winner Group 2 Schweppes WA Oaks (530m) at Cannington in WA.

Speedy bitch Rock Pool ($4.20) always looked a danger for the final after drawing ideally with box one, and she used the rails to her advantage running strongly to finish a length ahead of I’m Hot Property ($5.80), with the fastest qualifier and race favourite Odessa Shiraz ($2.90) a further quarter-length back in third.

Eventual runner-up I’m Hot Property speared across the field early on to take the lead from box six by the first turn, with Rock Pool on their heels coming into the corner.

After trailing at the start Rock Pool found the lead off the back of I’m Hot Property approaching the home turn and held on to finish first.

Rock Pool, a daughter of Where’s Pedro out of Will You Behave, won in at time of 30.49 on Saturday, her seventh win from just 11 career starts.

The other elite greyhound event on Saturday night was the Group 2 Bob Payne Winter Stakes, where the super consistent Did I Entertain claimed a classy win.
