Ipswich Highland Smash Repairs Auction Final Preview

This Wednesday the next big race on the Queensland greyhound racing calendar will take place at Ipswich when they host the $35,000 Group 2 Highland Smash Repairs Auction Final (520m).

The Thomas Noble-trained My Boy Monty will be favoured by many of the punters following his sensational 30.58s semi-final win last week, after a late scratching saw the reserve gain a start. The fastest qualifier by far, My Boy Monty coasted to an easy 10 length win ahead of Iron Force from box two.

A winner of six of his 18 career starts, My Boy Monty has again drawn box two for the final, and his ideal starting position, incredible speed and form will see him start as the odds-on favourite.

He is in sensational form, backing up his heat win last Wednesday with a victory at Brisbane in a 4th grade over 520m at Brisbane.

The other heat winners from last week were Fully Worked, Auriga Fox and Unlucky Ginga.

The Bruce Linnan-trained son of Where’s Pedro, Fully Worked was the second fastest qualifier running a sharp 30.71 victory when they defeated Doyal Star by a huge 12 ½ lengths.

Fully Worked has also drawn well for Wednesday’s final with box three while the lightly raced Auriga Fox and the more experienced Unlucky Ginga didn’t fare as well in the box draw, jumping from boxes five and six respectively.

Auriga Fox has had performed beautifully winning seven of their ten career starts including the Group 2 Vince Curry Maiden, and despite their awkward box draw is still a possibility for a place here.

The Sergio Livotto-trained Our Miss Maud, who ran a very close second to Auriga Fox in the qualifiers, has again drawn the prized inside running from box one and will take some beating if she finds the front early on.

Mentor Rodney Herr is represented in the final by two of his kennel stars as Iron Force and Freaky Force line up in the two far outside boxes drawn in seven and eight respectively.

The Ipswich Auction Final is scheduled as race seven on the night’s bumper ten event card and is due to jump at 8:55pm (QLD time).
