Dyna Lachlan and High Earner Joint Favourites in Easter Egg

Heats – 2010 Macro Meats Golden Easter Egg – Sat 20 March

Media Release: GRNSW

Between them they have already won three of 2010’s Group 1 sprinting events and now Dyna Lachlan and High Earner will share favouritism for the Macro Meats Golden Easter Egg.

TAB Sportsbet installed the pair as $6 favourites to win the series ahead of the heats this Saturday night at Wentworth Park.

Victorian Dyna Lachlan has claimed the Adelaide Cup-Australian Cup double this year and is poised to overhaul Rapid Journey’s all-time stakes record of $530, 995.

But the Andrea Dailly-trained speedster will have to contend with the toughest heat lining up alongside Betfair NSW Greyhound of the Year Take The Kitty, Horsham Cup winner Our Toyman and Richmond Derby hero Bogie Brave.

Queensland’s High Earner, fresh off his breakthrough Group 1 win in the Perth Cup, is expected to have an easier time of it in his run-off despite a difficult draw in box six.

TAB Sportsbet’s Glenn Munsie said both Dyna Lachlan and High Earner deserved to be equal favourites in pre-post betting.

“It’s time again for Sydney’s, if not Australia’s, greatest race the Golden Easter Egg when dogs come from all over Australia,” Munsie said.

“Dyna Lachlan is the up-and-coming star who burst onto the scene in the last few months and then there’s High Earner from Queensland who won the Perth Cup last week.

“The Egg can throw up one that just jumps out of the ground, it might be someone like Prankster, and I guess we won’t know until three weeks time.”

Behind the equal $6 favourites, the recently announced 2009 Australian Greyhound of the Year Cindeen Shelby occupies the next line of betting at $7 ahead of Take The Kitty ($10) and Prankster ($12).

Defending champion Dana Beatrice has been installed as a $26 chance to take out the $250, 000-to-the-winner series, which also doubles as the richest free entry race in the world.

The top three greyhounds from each heat plus the two fastest fourth placegetters will progress to the semi-finals on Saturday 27 March.

The final will be run on Saturday 3 April.
