GRNSW Out of Competition Tests

Media Release: GRNSW

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) stewards have over the past two days taken out of competition samples from greyhounds participating in two major events at Wentworth Park this weekend.

Over 60 samples were taken from runners nominated for this weekend’s heats of the Macro Meats Golden Easter Egg and the Multiquip Magic Maiden and will be specifically analysed for the presence of Erythropoietin (EPO) and its derivatives.

GRNSW Chief Executive Brent Hogan said the samples were taken as part of an overall focus on integrity of racing especially to coincide with the State’s biggest race meetings.

“Out of competition testing will now form a key component of GRNSW’s ongoing prohibited substance detection strategy,” Mr Hogan said.

Out of competition testing is conducted under the provisions of new Local Rule 1A that provides specifically for out of competition sampling.
