This Sunday night Temora will host the next leg of the coveted 2009/10 series of the GRNSW Country Challenge when the $5000 to-the-winner final for the Temora Ex-Services Memorial Cup (457m) takes place.

Eight top dogs are lining up in the sprint final including the brilliant Rodney McDonald-trained Best Player.

The son of Over Flo was the star of the heats when he claimed an emphatic nine length victory in a sharp 25.98sec ahead of Sunlit Leo for his third win from four starts.

Trainer McDonald is the man who prepared Dana Beatrice for the Golden Easter Egg win last year and it seems he has another star in the making with Best Player.

Devine Rush drawn ideally on the rails for the final is another top chance. The Patrick Parrelli-trained daughter of Bond ran the second fastest time in last week’s heats, a smart 25.93sec, beating home Crouch and Hold by over three lengths in an impressive all-the-way win.  The in-form Devine Rush was a recent runner up to Bellbird Park in the Armidale Cup and loves the grass tracks.

One of her biggest threats on Sunday comes from her kennelmate Devine Ruler in box six. Devine Ruler was the fastest qualifier last week (25.90sec) and although he is yet to win wearing the green is still likely to start as the favourite in box six.

Other heat winners include the Carolyn Reinke-trained Ricky Lee in box three and She Rose High, also worth keeping an eye on out wide in box eight. The daughter of Bombastic Shiraz, She Rose High is still making an impression after 95 starts and did well in the heats last week to fight back hard for the win after she missed the starts.

The Temora Cup Final is scheduled as the sixth race on the night’s cracker ten-race programme and is due to jump at 7:48pm. It is the first twilight TAB meeting for the Temora track with the evening’s exciting race action being broadcast on the Sky Racing channel.
