Saturday’s Golden Easter Egg Preludes

This Saturday night aside from the brilliant Group 1 action going on at The Meadows with the Australian Cup and Super Stayers finals, plenty of punters and dog enthusiasts will be keeping a close eye on proceedings at Wentworth Park as the esteemed track hosts two preludes for the illustrious Macro Meats Golden Easter Egg.

In the first prelude eight top sprinters are lining up with high hopes including the exciting Goodesy starting out wide from box eight.

The John Finn-trained son of Collision is a highly promising chance in the 2010 Easter Egg. He has won 13 of his 18 career starts, including his sole start wearing the pink rug.

Other strong chances in the first prelude are last-start winner Direct Jolie in box one and the speedy Ruth King-trained Freckles in box seven who will be fighting strongly for the win to qualify for the heats – something Goodesy doesn’t need for a Easter Egg heat run thanks to his Group 2 Bullie Gold Plate victory in January.

The second prelude is another star studded field featuring the likes of Short Time (box 2), Just Spud (box 7) and the headlining dog, Neville Brown’s Tuiaki in box eight.

A final lot of Easter Egg preludes, restricted to fourth and fifth graders, will run next week on March 6.

The winners of the preludes are guaranteed a spot in the 2010 Golden Easter Egg heats on March 20 ahead of the $250, 000 to-the-winner final, the richest free entry greyhound race in the world.

The 2010 Easter Egg Preludes will run as races six and eight on Wentworth Park’s cracker ten-race card on Saturday night and are scheduled to jump at 9:12pm and 9:58pm.
