Saturday’s Super Stayers Final Preview

The Meadows is the place to be this Saturday night for the best in greyhound racing action as the esteemed club hosts two Group 1 finals, the $150, 000 MTD Australian Cup (525m) and the $50, 000 Macro Meats Super Stayers (725m).

Eight elite dogs will line up in the highly anticipated Super Stayers final including the brilliant South Australian stayer who took out heat one last week in a sensational 42.43sec, Satanic Cash.

Last week the Robert Isaacson-trained Satanic Cash continued his recent series of terrific runs when he defeated the highly fancied Drill ‘Em at The Meadows by three lengths, setting himself up as the dog to beat this Saturday night.

The son of Big Daddy cool has now won five of his last eight starts and placed second in the other three. He will jump from box three in the final and looks a good chance at securing his well deserved first Group race victory after placing in both his other Group final runs.

Satanic Cash will still have to do the hard yards as he faces a tough field of rivals including the speedy dog he defeated in the heats, Drill ‘Em.

Trained by David Knocker, Drill ‘Em is a triple Group winner following his determined victory in the Group 2 Zoom Top two weeks ago. Drill ‘Em is still a strong threat here despite his awkward box four draw.

Another feisty and fearsome contender in the Super Stayers final is Next Top Model in box six. The Jason Thompson-trained brindle bitch beat home her rivals in the second qualifier last week earning her spot in her eighth Group race.

Jumping from box one is the Graeme Bate-trained Jarvis Bale. Despite a less than ideal prep run finishing fourth to Next Top Model last week, Jarvis Bale is known for his solid starts and may be able to hold on for a placing here.

Starting on the outside of Jarvis Bale is the classy Queensland chaser Dashing Corsair. Third to Satanic Cash last week, the Dwyer Lennon trained son of Malfoy will have benefited from the run at the track and has a solid record jumping from box two.

Also keep an eye on the Robert Britton-trained Symmetry drawn wide in box seven. Symmetry ran a gallant second to Next Top Model here last week, beaten by just a half head. This impressive and improving youngster has won seven of their 10 career starts and come in second in the other three and will only get better. Has the stamina and speed for the 725m trip but may need a bit more experience before they are ready to take out a field of this calibre.

The 2010 Macro Meats Super Stayers final is scheduled as race six on the night’s bumper 11 race card and is programmed to start at 8:45pm (VIC time).

Other top greyhound races happening across Australia this weekend include the great line-up at Cannington on Saturday night where the $22, 500 Group 3 Swan Draught Sprint Challenge (530m) and the $22, 500 Group 3 Swan Draught Stayers Challenge (715m) will play out amongst some of WA’s best dogs.
