Dyna Lachlan Wins Adelaide Cup

Last night star speedster Dyna Lachlan left his rivals for dead when he claimed an emphatic lead all the way victory in the first Group race final held at Angle Park, the coveted $85 000 Sky Channel Adelaide Cup (515m).

The Andrea Daily-trained son of Go Wild Teddy, Dyna Lachlan ($4.20) defeated shock second placegetter Strictly Mambo ($41) by an easy 5 ¾ lengths with Queensland hot shot Mr. Metz ($3.70) just behind in a photo-finish third.

Whelped in July 2007, Dyna Lachlan jumped beautifully out of box two and took the lead early on in front of Mr. Metz who showed tremendous determination chasing the eventual winner right until the end.

Starting as the warm favourite at $2.45, the David Robartson-trained High Earner had a terrible run in the final getting caught up on the rails after missing the start from box one.

The favoured dog made up some ground and was sitting third on the turn before being surpassed by Springvale Dash and Strictly Mambo. High Earner finished a dismal fifth a distant nine lengths back from the winner.

The Graeme Bate-trained Turanza Bale ($5) went amiss off the back before the bend, breaking down and failing to finish. The extent of the promising dog’s injuries and the future of his racing career are not yet known.

The dog that caused an upset when defeating Dyna Lachlan in last week’s semi-finals, Where’s Diamond was never a threat coming in seventh nearly 14 lengths from the winner.

Dyna Lachlan clocked a scintillating 29.48 over the 515m after peeling off sectionals of 4.37 and 16.73 in his 22nd win from 37 career starts.
