Adelaide Cup Final Preview

Following last week’s semi-finals a top line up of the nation’s best sprinters are ready to contend this Thursday night’s final of the $85 000 Group 1 Sky Channel Adelaide Cup (515m) at Angle Park.

David Robartson’s High Earner has drawn the coveted rail alley for the $63 250 to-the-winner final. The Queensland dog was last week’s fastest qualifier, taking out the second semi-final by an impressive 5 ½ lengths in a blistering 29.66.

Semi-Final number one saw an upset win by $18 outsider, the Ken Gill-trained Where’s Diamond, when he defeated Dyna Lachlan by a neck from box three. Where’s Diamond has drawn wide with box seven and may be slightly outclassed in the final with the elite field and wider box draw decreasing the dog’s chances.

Meanwhile Andrea Dailly’s Ballarat Cup winner Dyna Lachlan has drawn ideally in box two.

The third semi-final last week saw the Ron Ball-trained Brisbane Cup victor Mr. Metz defeat Hobart Thousand winner Prankster by nearly two lengths in the Queenslander’s debut at Angle Park. The two Group 1 winning dogs will start beside each other in the final having drawn boxes four and five respectively.

And no Group final would be complete without legendary trainer Graeme Bate. Thursday night he will be represented by Turanza Bale. Winner of the fourth semi, Turanza Bale has drawn box three for the final.

The Adelaide Cup Final is on this Thursday night, January 21 and will jump as race eight at 9:25pm (SA time).
