Christmas Gift Heat Results & Final Box Draw

Last Saturday Wentworth Park hosted the three heats for the festive feature, the Group 3 Christmas Gift (520m) in preparation for next week’s $15 000 to-the-winner final.

Heat 1

Currently dominating this season’s GRNSW Country Challenge series, Mighty Albert ($10.90) claimed a two-and-a-half length victory in heat one ahead of the early leader Nimbastic ($15.90) with the talented youngster Jedd Lion ($14.10) the same margin back in third. The $2.70 favourite True Kihael had a truly unlucky run, getting caught in the interference that saw two dogs fall, and unable to recover he came in last.

Heat 2

The second heat saw the $1.80 favourite, Ken Cheetham’s Take The Kitty defeat a gallant Brady’s Wish ($10.80) by two-and-a-quarter lengths with the longest-priced runner Prince Eragon ($34.80) a distant third. The winner ran the fastest time of the heats, a blistering 30.10 seconds after starting wide from box six.

Heat 3

The Mike Abbott-trained Tyson Magic ($8.70) claimed victory by the closest of margins, just half a head in front of the favourite Clark No Ee ($2.00) with Did I Entertain ($4.30) a length back in third in the final heat of the night. It was Tyson Magic’s first race start after a spell of over eight months, proving just how strong a runner he is.
