Drill ‘Em Wins Bold Trease Carnival Cup

The very promising young stayer Drill ‘Em claimed victory in last night’s $36 000 Group 2 Bold Trease Carnival Cup (715m) at Sandown Park, putting an end to Amity Bale’s sensational string of nine successive victories.

In an impressive lead-all-the way victory, Drill ‘Em ($7.50) sprung from box four setting the pace early to win in a slick 42.08 seconds, defeating a strong field of dogs.

The up-and-coming star Next Top Model ($3.90) was three-quarters-of-a-length back in second with Graeme Bate’s odds-on favourite Amity Bale ($1.70) a further four-and-a-half lengths away in third.

Son of 2005 Bold Trease Carnival Cup victor Texas Gold, Drill ‘Em now boasts a record of 11 wins from his 28 career starts earning over $70 000 in prizemoney.

Also held at Sandown on Thursday night were the Solo Melbourne Cup heats.
