Wentworth Park Monday Night

In-form trainer Rodney McDonald had a sensational night at Wentworth on Monday with two of his three runners winning their races.

Star of McDonald’s kennel, Dana Beatrice, ran a strong 520m in race six, the Tooheys Stake in 30.40 seconds. The Golden Easter Egg winner defeated runner-up Gazmick Jax by a neck with Jai Alation in third in the FFA event of the evening, for which she began as the $2.60 favourite.

Meanwhile McDonald’s erratic dog, Dana Antonia, took out the second race of the night, the 5th Grade Tedesco Menswear Stake (520m), in a dead heat with Reddy To Whine.  It was just her fifth win in 38 career starts, both dogs clocking 30.47 seconds.

Her inconsistent form meant Dana Antonia started the race as a $46.90 outsider. The Bond bitch has never lacked ability, but has always been quite an unfocused runner.

Dana Beatrice has won over $200 000 in prizemoney for McDonald who will continue to run her at Wentworth Park over the coming weeks.

McDonald’s third runner on the night, Dana Tiger, ran a miserable last place in the Grade 4 De Bortoli Wines Stake (Race 6). The 520m Wentworth track proved to be too testing for the dog, more suited to the 450-480m runs.
