Last Sunday night Grand Siyan took out the highly anticipated Group 3 Bunyip Gawler Gold Cup final in front of a huge crowd gathered to see the showcase event on the South Australian racing calendar.
Eight of the state’s top dogs raced in the Cup for the $27 000 prize, with Grande Siyan reigning supreme.
The Oswald Chegia-trained dog defeated Sunny Boy Love in 30.64 seconds by 3 ½ lengths with Jimmy Bothing in third.
Runner-up Sunny Boy Love was one of two dogs representing trainer Ken Gill. Gill’s other runner, Where’s Diamond, failed to fire on the night finishing a lacklustre sixth. Gill produced last year’s winner, White Admiral, but Grande Siyan snatched back-to-back victory from the trainer.
