AGRA October Run of the Month Awarded to Queen Lauryn

Star runner Queen Lauryn has been awarded with the AGRA’s Run of the Month for October 2009 for her outstanding run in the Macro Meats Crown Classic heats.

The Queensland bitch, known as simply ‘The Queen’, stopped the clock in a scorching 29.42 in the heat at Sandown on October 28.

The heat run followed her sensational victory in the Group 2 Schweppes All Starts at Cannington the Saturday night before.

The Queen lead all out from her strong jump out of box three, through the first turn and right to the end after she displayed a draw-dropping burst of acceleration mid race to widen her winning margin to an emphatic 7.25 lengths, a remarkable six-length improvement on her winning time in the 2008 Crown Classic.

The victory was the fourth fastest recorded at the Lightwood Road circuit and the fastest time ever by a bitch. Queen Lauryn failed to fire in the finals with Cindeen Shelby reigning supreme, however her heat run will go down in the history books.

It was a great honour to be awarded the Run of the Month for Queen Lauryn, as she was a finalist last year. She now joins the other AGRA Runs of the Month winners so far selected this year: Scull Murphy (January), Eluthra (February), Taipan Bale (March), Dyna Forte (April), Forty Twenty (May & June), Mutt Lange (July), Sand Burner (August) and last month’s winner Goodesy (September).
