Amity Bale Wins Hume Cup Final

Monday night, The Meadows hosted the final of the coveted Group 2 City of Hume Cup Final (725m), and favourite for the race Amity Bale reigned supreme.

The win was the fifth Group race success for the star sprinter who secured the lucrative $30 000 to-the-winner prize for trainer Graeme Bate.

It was a very comfortable victory to stay the least, Amity Bale finishing nine-and-a-quarter lengths ahead of Shadow Boxer with Wot Price Pink a further half-length back for third.

Amity Bale already impressive CV includes wins in the Group 2 Sir John Dillon Memorial, Group 2 Sydney Cup, Group 2 AWM Distance Title and Group 3 Chairman’s Cup.

Favouring the longer distance races, the stayer has now secured 15 wins from 18 starts, winning her last seven races.

Amity Bale was one of three runners in the final for Bate, whose other dogs Jarvis Bale and Whitfield Bale could only manage to finish fifth and eighth respectively.
