The Future Stars Final Results

A devastating fall saw fancied runner Fuego out of contention in Thursday night’s Multicam Routing Systems Future Stars Final (400m) at Maitland.

It was a sad result for the promising young dog trained by Luke Azzopardi, who started the race as the fastest qualifier from last Thursday’s semi-finals after running a sharp 22.37.

The upset loss of a runner was made better for the Londonderry trainer Azzopardi, however, as one of his other entries, Webbie’s Star, claimed victory in a smashing time of 22.47 five and a half lengths ahead of Obama Star, the runner-up to Fuego in the semis. Starburst Stumpy was a further length back in third.

The race was worth $7000 to the winner.
