Molly Campbell Silver Dollars Final Results

Thursday night’s Molly Campbell Silver Dollars final was won by the promising young dog Fully Worked.

Owned and trained by Bruce Linnan, the son of Where’s Pedro – Katrinoa jumped from box six and then charged down the 520m track at Albion Park, claiming a three-quarters-of-a-length victory over Tombstone Jack in 30.48 seconds. Myth Buster was a further half-length away in third.

Fully Worked was runner-up to Girl Hardy in his qualifying heat last Thursday night, while the Ron Ball-trained Tombstone Jack won his heat in a fantastic last to first victory.

Now boasting a record of four wins from seven starts, Fully Worked is set to continue on to the up-coming Young Guns series held at Albion Park.

Aside from the Molly Campbell final, a range of other fantastic races kept the crowds entertained Thursday night with some great emerging talent taking home the titles.

Reckless Surfer won his 5th Grade race on the night for trainer John Pay in 30.42 seconds. The son of Surf Lorian – Reckless won the 520m race in a late burst by a head, defeating Lilly’s Pride with Black Raven a further three lengths back in third. The dog has now won twice and placed once at Albion Park since commencing his Queensland racing campaign three months ago.

One of the best-bred winners of the night was the smart and sharp galloper Black Peregrine, who won his 520m 5th Grade race for trainer Vicki Wisener in 30.57 seconds. Son of Black Enforcer – Bogie Leigh, Black Peregrine ran home strong after missing the start, catching Maywyn’s Deal and eventually wearing down and defeating the early leader by a length and three-quarters. Red Aces was a further length and a quarter back in third. It was Black Enforcer’s ninth win in 32 career starts.

Other winners include trainer Bob Giltinan’s double victory with Smart Choice and She’s A Penske. Smart Choice (Most Awesome – Eureka Disco) won a 520m 3rd-4th Grade in 30.45 seconds by two lengths ahead of Fire Sale, the early leader, with Scheckler Bale an extra half length back in third. Giltinan is now set to run Smart Choice in a 600m race worth $4000 to-the-winner next Thursday night at Lismore.

She’s A Penske (Flying Penske – Fortified Cabin), the second half of Giltinan’s Thursday night double,  secured her third successive win when she defeated Bikini Beach by two and quarter lengths in a 710m 4th-5th Grade race. Irish Fantasy was a further neck back in third, the winner finishing in a time of 42.32 seconds.

And improving bitch Lady Diaz, who has recovered from an earlier string of injuries that prevented her from racing, claimed victory in a 520m Novice on the night. Daughter of Where’s Pedro – Solid Skye, Lady Diaz proved too strong for runner-up King Coyte who she beat by a neck with a head to As You Do in third.
