Jedd Lion A Sure Winner For Puppy Classic

Nowra Summer Puppy Classic winner Jedd Lion is ready to steal the show at Thursday’s prelude races to the Country Winnebago Puppy Auction Classic heats held in three weeks time at Dapto.

The son of Bombastic Shiraz has the best race record for the event after recently winning $15,000 on October 12 with 30.32 seconds and followed this performance with a 30.35 win at Wentworth Park five days later.

Although Jedd Lion was beaten at the Ultimo track on Saturday night, he is likely to face only moderate opposition this Thursday, securing his chances of winning the $50,000 event.

Only pups that were sold at the 2008 auction are eligible for the November 12 heats and so far only 17 nominations have arrived for the event.

The second prelude race on Thursday will be Race 5 and No Parole is the clear favourite for the event.

Another Bombastic Shiraz descendant, No Parole is the Wentworth Park winner and was unbeaten in three Dapto outings earlier in June.

The champion bitch has drawn box six and is expected to take control of the race early on with her only threats being Marron Magic from box one and Antarctica from box two.

Marron Magic is fresh out of the maiden class but has managed to win at Nowra in 30.31 and Antarctica recently won by seven lengths at Gosford on October 13 with 30.75 seconds.
