Corporate Challenge Heat Results

Ipswich was home to the Corporate Challenge heats on Tuesday, with Gnarley Boy and Astro Hardy’s slashing runs setting up an intriguing final clash next Sunday, worth $5000 to the winner.

Astro Hardy (Trewly Special x Bacardi Cruiser) gave another victory to in-form trainer Nina Apap, winning heat two in a super fast 30.55 seconds, six lengths ahead of Taraarat and Honey Ryder. It was a great win, especially considering the dog has just returned to racing following a joint operation on its toe.

Mal Dawson’s Gnarley Boy (Where’s Pedro x Suna Silence) secured an empathic 13 length victory in heat three in a sizzling 30.36 seconds, smashing runner-up Aldamo and third placegetter Cool Midas Touch.

Heat one was won by Wiggle Dooley in 31.00 seconds, two-and-a-half lengths ahead of Boreman with Hayley’s Gossip third.

Heat four’s victor was Hot Contender in a speedy 30.83 seconds, ahead of Azygoes and Bility Diamond.

Mega Force won heat five one-and-a-half lengths ahead of Not Today Sun and Fuelled Fury in a time of 31.05 seconds.

And the final heat, heat six was taken out by King Tristram in 31.10 seconds, with Gira Fury second ahead of third placegetter Kissing Assassin.

The day was also dominated by trainer Bill Sharpe’s victorious double in other races.

Two of Sharpe’s runners, littermates Mark Ethon and For A While (Go Wild x Inspire Me) won their graded races over 431m in impressive times.

Mark Ethon, originally second reserve for his race, gained a lucky start for Sharp, winning by nearly six lengths ahead of Kentucky Bill and Back Half Yours in 25.52 seconds in the 5th grade Denmac Ford.

For A While defeated Midnight Surf and God Star by four and a quarter lengths in an even sharper time of 25.46 seconds in the 4/5 grade ‘Give Me Five’ At Stud.
