Schweppes Vic Peters Semi Final Results

Wentworth Park was home to the semi finals of the Group 1 Vic Peters Classic last Saturday night, with some very impressive victories and few upset wins as well mixing up the final field.

Semi-Final 1 (Race 5): Fancy Mandy won the opening heat by 3 ½ lengths in 30.23 seconds after racing straight up the middle with Naughty Nick on the inside and Tyler Bale on the outside, breaking free on the home straight after racing tightly. Tyler Bale held on for second, also securing a start in next Saturday’s $50 000 to-the-winner final, with Naughty Nick a further 2 ½ lengths back in third.

The win, though still remarkable, was a far cry and nine lengths slower than Fancy Mandy’s speedy qualifying heat win on October 16 of 29.63.

Semi-Final 2 (Race 6): The second semi-final of the night was an intense battle, with the in-form Boston Blackie defeating Puddy Muddles by a half length.

Son of Solve The Puzzle, Boston Blackie took the lead mid-race and held on to cross the line first in 30.11, after coming off a career best winning time of 29.82 in the October 15 heats. Slick Lee finished in 30.85 seconds a further 10 lengths away.

Semi-Final 3 (Race 7): Semi final number three was one of the most open races seen in a long time after the series’ big-gun Outa Credit was scratched last Thursday. One of the youngest dogs in the series, Pedrosa, claimed victory after jumping from the unfavourable box one. His earlier win at Bullie on October 21 saw him race 472m in an impressive 26.36 win and he followed this up finishing his semi in a time of 30.32.

2 ½ lengths back was runner up Rock Muncher (30.49s) while Viva Vegas (30.71s) finished a further three lengths away in third.

Semi-Final 4 (Race 8): Semi final four saw Dancing Surf jump from box seven, winning by four lengths after showing real speed and securing the lead at the first turn. The son of Surf Lorian ran the first sectional in a sharp 5.44s before clocking a final finishing time of 30.13, a career best.

In the last few strides, Freaky Lee (30.41s) fought hard to snare second place and a start in the finals from Silent Hill (30.50) ending up a further 1 ¼ lengths back for third.

The highly anticipated Schweppes Vic Peters Classic finals will be held at Wentworth Park this Saturday night. It is race eight on the cards, due to start at 9:48pm.
